Welcome Pack
On arrival at Inverdon, you will find a handy 'Welcome Book' waiting for you which is full of useful info about our apartment, Ayr itself and local amenities but we thought we'd put a copy on here so you can also access the info when you're out & about!
We are sure you will enjoy your time staying with us in the heart of Burns’ country with great access to local amenities including golf courses, bars, restaurants, leisure centres, a cinema and parks and, of course, Ayr’s beautiful beaches!
Please feel free to make use of our dedicated seating area in the grounds which is viewable from the bedroom windows and consists of 4 seats with foot stools and a table, all of which store as a 'cube' under a black/dark grey cover. If you do use the seating, please could you do us a favour and replace the cover & high-tech brick when you're finished so it doesn't blow away, thanks! Please could you only use our seating area as the other seating areas are privately owned by other residents, thanks!
We kindly ask guests to keep in mind that, although you have the entire apartment to yourselves, the building, stairway and grounds are shared so we respectfully ask that there's no excessive noise, loud music etc, that could disturb our/your lovely neighbours, thank you! 😊
The nearest convenience store is Seafield Stores which is approximately ten minutes’ walk away at 43-45 Blackburn Dr, Ayr KA7 2XW and, as well as the usual groceries, also has a Pharmacy and Post Office. Opening hours are generally 6am to 7pm seven days a week but they often stay open later during the summer months. If you would like to call them to check, their number is 01292 - 284451. When leaving Inverdon, turn right and continue straight through the traffic lights, Seafield Stores is to be found a short distance past the lights on your right-hand side. There is also a late-night Spar on Boswell Park which is around 5 minutes’ drive away.
The nearest big supermarket is Morrison’s on Castlehill Road and can be reached in around 6 or 7 minutes by car and around 20 minutes on foot. You can find Morrison’s included on the map on the last page.
We have three wonderful, licenced hotels nearby that provide a lovely, homely atmosphere with an open fire in winter months and beer gardens in the summer with wholesome food on offer throughout the day. The Chestnuts Hotel is around five minutes’ walk away (turn right when leaving Inverdon’s driveway and you will find The Chestnuts Hotel on the right by the traffic lights), The Abbotsford Hotel is approximately 3 minutes’ walk away (turn left out of the driveway and The Abbotsford is to be found a short distance along on your left) and The Fox & Willow which is around 7 minutes’ walk away (turn left out of the driveway, first left into Midton Road, first right into Broomfield Road, turn left at the next junction and the Fox & Willow is a short distance along on the left).
There are also a variety of local restaurants and bars in the town centre including the highly regarded The Treehouse (01292 – 288500) and Meridian (01292 – 287032), both of which are around 15 to 20 minutes’ walk away.
If you prefer Indian or Chinese food there is a lovely Indian restaurant a few minutes away with beautiful sea views, just past Seafield Stores on Blackburn Drive (Ayr India on 01292 - 263731) and an equally good Chinese restaurant on The Sandgate, around 25 minutes’ walk away. It’s called Ruby 7 Days and can be reached on 01292 – 267131. Both will happily deliver too.
Local taxis can be booked with Gribbens Taxis on 01292 - 260000 and they also have a downloadable app named ‘Thistle Cabs’.
The Citadel Leisure Centre offers a wide range of amenities including a swimming pool and gyms. It is located on Ayr’s beautiful seafront and can be reached by car in around ten minutes or on foot in around half an hour by walking along Ayr’s promenade which can be found just beyond Seafield Stores & Ayr India on Blackburn Drive.
We have a local Bowling Alley on Miller Road (LA Bowl 01292 – 611511), which also has a Laser Quest in the same building and is approximately 15 minutes’ walk away from Inverdon.
We also have a local Astoria Cinema which is around 10-15 minutes’ walk away in Burns Statue Square.
Scotland is the world-renowned home of Golf and some of the best courses are in Ayr, Prestwick and nearby Troon (around 8 miles away). The view to the front of Inverdon is actually over ‘The Old Racecourse’, hence the name ‘Racecourse View’, and the very well-regarded Belleisle Golf Course just beyond which is accessed via Doonfoot Road. Turn right out of Inverdon, turn left at the traffic lights and the entrance to Belleisle Golf Course is a short distance along on your left-hand side.
The ferry service to the beautiful Isle of Arran is very regular (weather dependent) and leaves from Ardrossan which is approximately half an hour’s drive away or just under an hour by train.
We sincerely hope you won’t need to but, should you need to turn the water off in an emergency, please use the stopcock in the Blue Bedroom, to the left of the window, behind the little door. There is also a little pipe there to attach to the tap to make it easier to turn.
The nearest Doctor’s surgery is at 3 Racecourse Road, Ayr (01292 - 886622) and the nearest Dentist’s surgery is at 1 Alloway Place, Ayr (01292 - 263103). The UK Emergency Number for Police, Fire or Ambulance is 999.

You’ll find handy things like extra blankets, pillows, an electric iron, ironing board, clothes drying racks etc in the large hall cupboard and a foldable crib (Length 93cm, Width 57cm, Height 71.5cm) in the back bedroom wardrobe, please let us know if there’s anything else you need.
The central heating is Wi-Fi controlled by adjusting the temperature on the white thermostat controller box in the lounge (‘squeeze’ the left-hand side to turn the temperature down and the right-hand side to turn it up, more details are in the central heating manual in the Welcome Book) and individual radiators can be adjusted to suit by using the thermostat controller on each radiator. In an ongoing effort to reduce our carbon footprint, we kindly ask that you please try and remember to switch the heating off whenever you leave the apartment, the planet thanks you! 😊. If you forget or would like the apartment warmed up for your return, please let us know and we’ll happily nip round and put it on for you, we don’t need access to the apartment to do this as we can connect wirelessly from the garden.
All TVs (Lounge, Kitchen & both Bedrooms) are ‘Smart’ so will give you access to all terrestrial channels AND our complimentary Netflix offering as well as any streaming services you may subscribe to!
We are committed to keeping our carbon footprint as low as possible and, to this end, we politely ask if you could please use the appropriately coloured recycling bins in the car park. They can be found in the bin area almost directly opposite the main entrance to the building, behind the screening wall. Ours are the ones with the natty stickers on that say ‘Inverdon Ayr’,
Blue Bin = Metals & Plastics
Green Bin = General Non-Recyclable Stuff
Grey Bin = Paper & Cardboard
Purple Bin = Glass & Bottles.

The instruction manuals for all the appliances etc can be found in the wee cupboard to the right of the oven but please let us know if you’re not sure of anything!
On your day of departure, we politely ask that you please check-out by 11am to allow us time to deep clean and prepare for our next guests.
Please put any used towels in on the floor in the bedroom/s and any unused ones on the beds as, in our ongoing effort to be as green as possible, we don’t want to be washing clean towels, thanks! 😊
When you’re ready to leave, please could you return the keys to the key-box by the front door, then please give those numbers a good shoogle round!
